Egyptian football icon Mohamed Salah opting for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig is one of the biggest talking points during this transfer window and the move has left former Nigeria and West Brom striker Osaze Odemwingie ‘shocked’.
Salah joined the 2021 Super Lig champions as a free agent following his departure from Liverpool after 8 seasons with the Premier League side.
The 34 year-old, who is still considered one of the best wide forwards, was subject of interests from several teams, but Odemwingie insists only Salah can explain his motivation.
Reacting to Salah’s sensational transfer to Trabzon, on Brila FM’s breakfast Show ‘No Holds Barred’, Odemwingie described the initial news of the deal as a shock.
’My first impression was a shock.’ He continued, ‘I was surprised because I thought after Liverpool, he would go somewhere like, still, a big club because he still looks fit to play in the big leagues and for big clubs.”

When asked about his thoughts on if the Liverpool legend ‘still has game’, Osaze Odemwingie responded:
’I think there’s still some football in him.
’I don’t know his body, his plans or how many more years he intends to play for, but, I’ll just watch and hopefully he still delivers in Turkey.’
Osaze Odemwingie played for West Brom, Cardiff and Stoke City in the Premier League making 129 appearances, scoring 37 goals and 13 assists.
