Kelechi Nwakali got an assist in his debut for Ponferradina in their first league game of the season as they edged Cartagena 3-2 on Monday.
Nwakali set up teammate Derik Lacerda to put Ponferradina 1-0 ahead in the seventh minute.
Mikel Rico equalized for Cartagena in the 35th minute but Dani Ojeda restored Ponferradina’s lead on 51 minutes.
Then 10 minutes later Ojeda got his second goal of the game to put Ponferradina 3-1 up.

With two minutes left to play Borja Valle reduced their deficit but Ponferradina held on to claim the three points.
The win took Ponferradina to third in the 22-team Spanish second division league table.
