An injury time goal earned hosts Ghana a hard fought 3-2 win against Côte d’Ivoire in the third place match at the 2022 U-17 WAFU Zone B tournament on Friday.
After losing to Nigeria and Burkina Faso in the semi-finals, both Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire headed into the match with the hope of ending their campaign at the tournament on a high.
With the game tied at 2-2 and heading for penalty shootout, Abdul Razak Salifu netted in the 92nd minute to seal the win for his side.
Côte d’Ivoire had taken the lead in the seventh minute but Abdul Rashid Adam equalized for Ghana just two minutes after the opening goal.

Ghana then went 2-1 up in the 57th minute before Makhete Moustaha N’Diaye made it 2-2 on 72 minutes.
And in two minutes of added time Salifu emerged the hero as he bagged the winner to end the tie 3-2 for the hosts.
Later on Friday inside the Cape Coast stadium. the Golden Eaglets will battle Burkina Faso in the final.
Both finalists will represent the WAFU Zone B at next year’s U-17 AFCON in Algeria.
