Villarreal’s winger Samuel Chukwueze has undergone successful surgery on his quadriceps in his left leg.
The Spanish club confirmed in a press release via their official website that the 22-year-old was operated at the Quirónsalud Hospital in Barcelona over the weekend.
The winger picked up an injury during the second leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 6th May.
He returned to training few days before the game in a bid to be fit for the Europa League final against Manchester United, but he failed a late fitness test and the club decided that the best option for him to go under the knife .
Samuel Chukwueze who scored 4 goals in 28 league game last season for the Yellow Submarines will now begin his recovery and rehabilitation immediately.
