High praise from one captain to another.

Jordan Henderson’s importance to Liverpool this season both on and off the pitch has been tremendous. He adeptly filled in at centre-back when the injury crisis was at its worst, and his presence on the right side of the team’s centre-midfield was sorely missed. It’s probably not surprising to anyone who watches Liverpool FC regularly that this team wins more frequently with Hendo in the side than when he’s not. As it turns out… his international teammates agree too! West Ham Captain and fellow England international Declan Rice was speaking to TalkSport, and outlined Hendo’s importance to the English national team:

I’m praying that he’s fit for the Euros and comes through this groin injury because if he wasn’t there, we’d miss him massively.

He’s a top player, world-class player. He’s won the top trophies. He’s been at the big tournaments. He knows what to do. On the pitch, you feel his experience, his leadership.

On a relatively inexperienced team like this one, Hendo’s leadership and control would surely come in handy. O Captain, our captain. Henderson has been ruled out until mid-late April after surgery on a groin injury. The club has not put a time table on his return.
