Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and two Saudi clubs are reportedly interested in the Liverpool winger.
The summer transfer window isn’t even open yet, but it’s clear this summer could end in a massive overhaul for the Premier League Champions. We’ve already had one confirmed incoming and one confirmed outgoing, with a couple Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez looking likey to follow Frimpong through the AXA Training Center doors in short order.
Of course, there are a few squad players also linked away, including the player who would probably be the biggest loss after a recent Liverpool FC Instagram account unfollower, Luis Diaz.
Diaz has long been linked away with Barcelona, but apparently Atletico Madrid and a couple of Saudi clubs—who I don’t care to learn anything about, including their names—are also testing the waters. The Saudi clubs are reportedly preparing bids of around £72 million, or the equivalent in oil.
All things being equal, Slot would probably want to hang onto Diaz for at least another season or two. Diaz was especially instrumental to Liverpool’s early-season success under Slot, and proved to be a useful solution to lead the line while Jota was injured and/or Nunez had burned the manager’s head out.
However, £72 million for the 28-year-old, substantially more than the roughly £50 million he was brought in for, might just be too tempting an offer to pass up. Although Slot has gotten a better goal return out of Diaz than in any other season, he hasn’t been especially profilic during his career on Merseyside, and it could be a good opportunity to cash in.
