It’s news that’s not exactly unexpected but it’s still news, and it’s news that was always going to be a little disappointing. Andy Robertson has, as long speculated, now committed to a move to fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.
The Liverpool FC vice-captain had been rumoured to be on the move to the North London side since he announced his impending departure from Merseyside, but it had been subject to Spurs retaining their Premier League status. With that confirmed on the final day of the season, Fabrizio Romano says completing his transfer is now in motion as planned.
There had been rumours over the past day that Juventus might have been attempting to hijack the deal with a late bid to bring Robbo to Italy. Coupled with some Italian rumours around an Alisson transfer or Mamardashvili loan move, it suggests that Juventus may have been watching a ton of Liverpool all year.
