Two Arsenal supporters were arrested after allegedly impersonating stewards in an attempt to enter Selhurst Park during Arsenal’s Premier League title celebrations against Crystal Palace.
The incident took place on Sunday as thousands of Arsenal fans travelled to south London hoping to witness the club lift the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004.
With Arsenal’s official away allocation already sold out and Crystal Palace introducing strict anti-touting measures ahead of the match, demand for tickets had surged dramatically in the days leading up to kick-off.
According to reports, the two supporters attempted to gain access to the stadium by wearing high-visibility jackets and posing as official matchday stewards.
Security staff at Selhurst Park reportedly became suspicious and alerted police before the pair could fully enter the ground.
The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that two men, aged 35 and 37, had been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

In a statement, police said:
“Stewards at Selhurst Park stopped two men attempting to gain entry to the stadium.”
Authorities added that both individuals were taken into custody before later being cautioned.
The arrests came amid extraordinary scenes surrounding Arsenal’s title-clinching weekend.
Palace had already warned supporters that any home fan found sharing tickets with Arsenal fans could face bans from purchasing season tickets or memberships next season.
