Reports from Germany say the Reds are tracking the versatile young Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder
Liverpool are in the midst of a spectacular first season under new manager Arne Slot. The club made the finals of the EFL Cup, topped the Champions League group stages before being knocked out by PSG, and are currently in the drivers seat for the Premier League title.
Slot inherited a strong and settled squad when he took charge, with very little turnover occurring during his first summer at the helm. That is expected to change next summer, with a raft of changes mooted as the squad is altered to Slot’s image after he has had a full season to determine who he envisions as part of the future of the club.
While Liverpool seem stocked in the midfield department, they are likely to be looking for depth, especially of Slot does not feel that Wataru Endo or Harvey Elliott are long term solutions. Elliott has struggled to get minutes this season under Slot in the more advanced midfield role. Slot is seeming to put more trust in Wataru Endo as the season progresses, but the Japan international is nearing the twilight of his career.
A report from Bild in Germany has Liverpool tracking Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson as a potential incoming midfield player should Slot want to make a change in that department. The young Swede in is his second season with the German side, and has shown versatility to play in a deeper role or as a box to box midfielder. The 20 year old has a huge engine, and has garnered praise for his ability to progress the ball on the dribble in transition. Larsson has earned comparisons to former Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.
Eintracjt Fraknfort are said to value Larsson at around £50 million, but the club want to keep the player for at least one more season. Larsson is being tracked by many of the other top clubs in Europe, so there would likely be hefty competition for the young midfielder.
