Former Rangers and Stationary Stores player, Chukwuma Akuneto, has explained why he believes he is the suitable candidate for the Golden Eaglets coaching job.
Last week, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) declared the Golden Eaglets coaching job, alongside that of the Super Eagles, vacant.

Now the NFF has thrown the position open, with Akuneto, expressing his interest.
“As part of the essential criteria for this role, (Golden Eaglets coaching job) I would like to state that I hold the UEFA A licence, UEFA B Licence and the FA Youth Award which were all gained through the English Football Association,” Akuneto said.
“Other qualifications relevant to the role are a current PGCE teaching degree, demonstrating my ability to educate and support people to get better.
“I have had almost two decades of extensive experience working across the 16- 19 age groups with distinction when viewed in terms of player development, results and trophies won with different age groups. I have also developed fantastic human beings.
“I have a profound awareness of the game as a footballer, great knowledge of the principles of play as a coach and I also have good people skills.”
The 46-year-old added: “I have always exhibited hard work, dedication and a positive attitude in finding a way to support players in their learning and hope to bring all these into play if my application is favourably considered.”
On 17 July, 2023, Akuneto was announced as the U-19s coach of English club Oldham Athletics.
He coached the U-18s team at Stockport County, before he joined Oldham.
Also, he was both Youth Team Manager and a First team coach at FC United of Manchester.
