Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Completesports.com reports.
The pairings was confirmed after the draw was held at the Parc des Expositions d’Abidjan in Abidjan on Friday, 12 October 2023 with the 24 teams drawn into six groups of four.
The last time the Super Eagles and Côte d’Ivoire met at the AFCON was in the quarter-finals of the 2013 edition in South Africa.
Goals from Emmanuel Emenike and Sunday Mba secured a 2-1 win for the Eagles.
At the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, the Eagles beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in their final group game thanks to goals from Umar Sadiq and William Troost-Ekong.
For Equatorial Guinea, this is the first time they will face the Eagles at the AFCON.

In other groups, Ghana, Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde are in Group B, Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea and The Gambia are in Group C and in Group D, we have Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Angola.
Group E has Tunisia, Mali, South Africa and Namibia while Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia and Tanzania are in Group F.
Next year’s AFCON will kickoff from 13 January to 11 February 2024.
This is the second time Côte d’Ivoire will host the continental showpiece after first doing so in 1984.
Teranga Lions of Senegal are the defending champions after they claimed their first title following a penalty shootout win against Egypt at the 2021 tournament in Cameroon.
