The ex-Red revealed that Jurgen Klopp still texts him.

It is no secret that Liverpool could us a center back or three right now, even Dejan Lovren-shaped ones.

The long-time Reds defender left over the summer in £10.9m switch to Zenit St. Petersburg after six years on Merseyside. The club elected to not replace the Croatian in the squad, a fateful decision at the root of Liverpool’s flawed title defense as all three remaining center backs in Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have been struck by the injury bug.

Lovren, meanwhile, appears to be loving life in Russia, cheerfully dispelling rumors of a short-term loan return to Liverpool in a recent interview with the Zenit website:

“I think they miss me more than I miss them.”

Despite lifting a maiden Premier League trophy with Liverpool over the summer, the club mutually parted ways the 31-year-old after he had dropped to the bottom of the center back pecking order.

“I made the decision to leave Liverpool. I wasn’t feeling happy there towards the end, because I wasn’t playing.”

The move to the Russian top flight has been a successful one so far for the Croatian international, winning the Russian Super Cup in his first game and even inheriting the captain armband on a permanent basis.

Never one to use less words when more could be said, the run of success prompted the defender to even insinuate that his ex-club wants him back:

“I am happy that I decided to come here and I think they miss me more than I miss them.

“Jurgen Klopp knows that. We sometimes chat and he once wrote to me that he misses me. I did not answer that.”
